Why design an outdoor learning space for students when you can create it with them?
In this interactive workshop, I’ll share the story of how a group of Grade 1 learners took the lead in transforming our outdoor classroom—imagining possibilities, identifying needs, and working together to build, fix, and improve their environment. What began as a simple space evolved over time into a vibrant learning area shaped by student ideas, creativity, and action.
This session is ideal for teachers across elementary and contexts—whether you’re just beginning to develop a space or looking for ways to strengthen student voice, ownership, and responsibility within an existing one. We'll explore how students can drive and direct change, and how we as teachers can support them in taking action to build, fix, and improve their space.
